For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him, should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16
Jesus final saying as He hung on the cross was recorded in the book of Luke: “And when Jesus had cried out with a loud voice, He said, “Father, into Your hands I commit My spirit.” Having said this, He breathed His last”. (Luke 23:46)
“Bowing His head, He gave up His spirit”. (John 19:30) Quietly, submissively, Jesus simply yielded up His life for you and I. An awesome demonstration of obedience Jesus displayed that day.A wealthy man by the name of Joseph, a member of the Jewish Supreme Court, went to Pilate and asked for the body of Jesus. Joseph was a good man, and was granted permission to take down Jesus body and wrap it in a long linen cloth and laid it in a new, unused tomb hewn into the rock. This took place on a Friday. Luke 23:50-54.
Sunday morning, the Bible says, “Suddenly there was a great earthquake; for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and rolled aside the stone and sat on it. Wow!! I would like to take more time in the future to really teach on this, this is a powerful message!! His (Jesus) face shone like lightning and His clothing was a brilliant white. The guards shook with fear when theysaw Him, and fell into a dead faint. (These guards were literally the first preachers to proclaime Jesus is risen!)
Mathew28:2-4.Mathew 28:11 says,
the guards went before the chief priest and the chief priests were told the earth shook, and an Angel came and rolled aside the stone, and then to top it off the Angel sat on it! Then, Jesus comes out, His face was lit like lightning and His clothing was a brilliant white. And they proclaimed, Jesus body was resurrected, just like He said He would resurrect it in 3 days!!The Bible says the Jewish leaders were called to an assembly and it was decided to “Bribe” the guards to say they had all been asleep when Jesus desciples came during the night and they stole the body.
Mathew28:11-13.Can you imagine the Jewish leaders bribed the guards, don’t tell the truth, don’t tell or proclaim the truth to the people, don’t tell anyone Jesus is alive, instead just say the disciples came in the night and stole the body of Jesus while you were sleeping. What’s really sad is that these guards took the bribe. Mathew 28:15 says, “And they took the money, and did as they were taught:…”
God gave His only begotten Son, for you and I. When Jesus hung on the cross He bore our sins and our sickness so we can be free. Isaiah 53:5 says, “But He was wounded and bruised for our sins.
